On Friday 23rd September – World Car Free Day, Mauricewood Primary School officially celebrated receiving Cycle Friendly School Award. As always a large number of pupils and staff brought bikes and scooters to school and a special assembly was held that morning. Peter Jackson from Cycling Scotland presented the award to one of our parents Mr Will Rennie, who delivers Bikeability in the school and our Junior Road Safety Officer – Daisy. The plaque and banner were proudly received. Gillian Bathgate – School Travel Plan coordinator and Gordon Burt our IBike Officer were also present to congratulate the children on their success and were encouraging everyone to continue building on the success of becoming a Cycle Friendly School. This session we have planned new scooter and cycle events and we are looking forward to working with our new Bike Crew – Mauricewood’s Mini Riders.
